FTF Fully Baked: Easy To Make Cake for Any Occasion!

Hey, everybody! Have you ever opted for a store bought cake for your special occasions because you thought you might mess up if you tried to make one on your own? Well, worry no more! Baking the perfect cake is actually pretty simple if you follow a few key steps! In the latest 'FTF Fully Baked,' Sam is back to walk you through it. Easy to make base cake (White or Yellow), by Sam!

Ingredients

  • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar

  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 3 large eggs & 1 yolk

  • 3/4 cup milk

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

  • Set a rack in middle level of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar for about 5 minutes, until light and fluff

  • Sift together flour, baking powder and salt in separate bowl and set aside

  • Add each egg in one at a time until just incorporated

  • Add vanilla

  • Add 1/3 of the flour mixture to butter mixture and half of the milk mixture; continue to alternate beginning and ending with flour mixture, beat until just incorporated

  • Scrape bowl and beater often

  • Pour batter into (2) 9 inch cake pans, buttered and floured (or use parchment paper, cooking spray)

  • Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean

  • Cool in pan on cooling rack for 5 minutes, then turn cakes out onto rack and allow to cool completely
